अष्टछाप कवि : नंददास,

नंददास 16 वीं शती के अंतिम चरण के कवि थे। नंददास हिन्दी में अष्टछाप के प्रमुख कवि, जो सूरदास के बाद सबसे प्रसिद्ध हुए। एक मान्यता के अनुसार इनका जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के एटा ज़िले में सोरों के पास रामपुर गांव में हुआ था। ये तुलसीदास के भाई थे, किन्तु अब यह बात प्रामाणिक नहीं मानी जाती। उसी वार्ता में यह भी लिखा है कि द्वारिका जाते हुए नंददास सिंधुनद ग्राम में एक रूपवती खत्रानी पर आसक्त हो गए।

ये उस स्त्री के घर में चारो ओर चक्कर लगाया करते थे। घरवाले हैरान होकर कुछ दिनों के लिए गोकुल चले गए। ये वहाँ भी जा पहुँचे। अंत में वहीं पर गोसाईं विट्ठलनाथ जी के सदुपदेश से इनका मोह छूटा और ये अनन्य भक्त हो गए। इस कथा में ऐतिहासिक तथ्य केवल इतना ही है कि इन्होंने गोसाईं विट्ठलनाथ जी से दीक्षा ली।

Nanddas -
