CRIMINAL matter are PUBLIC WRONGS in which the direct or immediate victim might be one individual or a family but the ultimate victim is the society as a whole.This is based on the theory of SOCIAL ABHORE . i.e the society hales the crime and the animal.
Example:- Murder , Rape , Kidnapping
The criminal matter the action is initiated by the state. This is based on the theory of Parens patriae i.e the state is the parent of the citizen and being the guardian it takes action if any crime is committed against any member of the society.
Primary purpose of criminal law is Punishment to the WRONG DOER.
