Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Short Biography

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, was born on 14th November, 1889. He became the first Prime Minister of Independent India. One of the most prominent leaders of India, he took India to the heights of growth. He ruled the independent nation until he died. He is the crusader and architect of the nation, a sovereign, socialist, secure and democratic republic. He was a popular figure in Indian politics. Transition of India from monarch to republic was during his rule only. Under his direction and guidance and leadership, Congress as a party emerged and won all the elections in the all the consecutive years 1951, 1957 as well as in 1962. He handled all political troubles efficiently and even got succeeded. His birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day only for the reason that he loved children, he was fond of children.

Childhood
Jawaharlal Nehru was born in Allahabad to Motilal Nehru and Swaruprani Thussu. He was the eldest of all his siblings. His childhood was protective, peaceful and sheltered. He grew up in a wealthy, rich and opulent environment. Even he had the privilege of living in Anand Bhawan, a large palatial state.



Sarojini Naidu Short Biography

Sarojini Naidu (real name: Sarojini Chattopadhyay) was born on 13th February 1879, in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. She was a child prodigy and actively took part in the activities for the independence of India. On account of her beautiful poems and songs she was also known as ‘The Nightingale of India’. Naidu served as the first governor of the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh from 1947 to 1949; and became the first woman to become the governor of an Indian state. She was the second woman to become the president of the Indian National Congress in 1925 and the first Indian woman to do so.

Childhood
Sarojini Naidu was born to father Aghor Nath Chattopadhyay and mother Barada Sundari Debi. Her father settled in Hyderabad and founded Hyderabad College, which was later named as Nizam’s college. Naidu began writing at the age of twelve. Her Persian play ‘Maher Muneer’ impressed the Nawab of Hyderabad.





Biography of Sikh Founder Guru Nanak Dev Ji

The founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus is our own Guru Nanak Dev ji. He is preached till date only because of his teaching and therefore, was given the name ‘Guru’. His core teaching says that we are on this earth as human beings and the purpose of a human being is to do good deeds at first and rest everything afterwards. Purity of thoughts and actions lead to a peaceful and prosperous environment. Childhood
He was born on October 20, 1469 in Nankana Sahib in Punjab to Kalyan Chand Das Bedi and Mata Tripta. He had only one sibling. She was his elder sister, Bibi Nanaki, who moved to Sultanpur after her marriage. He was so attached to his sister that he went to Sultanpur after her to live with her family. He found work with Daulat Khan at the age of sixteen and started working there in Sultanpur itself.


Ustad Zakir Hussain Tabla Vadak Short Biography

When the name of legends is taken in the history of India, name of Ustad Zakir Hussain is one of them- the famous Indian tabla waadak or tabla player. His designation also counts to be musical producer, film actor and composer.

Childhood
Zakir Hussain was born on March 9, 1951 in Mumbai to well-known tabla player Ustad Alla Rakha. A child prodigy, Zakir was touring by the age of twelve. Zakir went to the United States in 1970, embarking on an international career which includes no fewer than 150 concert dates a year. As a child also, he became famous.

Education
Zakir Hussain attended St. Michael's High School in Mahim, and graduated from St. Xavier's, Mumbai. As he took his plunge into the career of music he got great success. He composed, directed and recorded numerous song-tracks and got huge recognition.


Srinivasa Ramanujan Short Biography

Srinivasa Ramanujan was born on 22 December 1887 in Erode, Madras Presidency, now in Tamil Nadu. He is a man known for his work done in the field of mathematics. And that too with no formal training of that subject which others are getting in European countries.  Ramanujan developed his own mathematical research in isolation. Some extraordinary contribution done by him in the field of mathematics are – mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions. Along with this, the legend has provided many theorems.

Education 
He was enrolled into Telegu School, but found it too tiring and uninteresting to attend school and mostly he use to ran away from there. Later in 1904, he graduated from Town Higher Secondary School.

He also received a scholarship to study at Government Arts College in Kumbakonam. During his studies he was so influenced by studying mathematics that he could not focus on any other subject and failed in all of them. This resulted him in losing the scholarship. Later, without any degree, he left the college and continued to pursue independent research in mathematics.


Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Short Biography 

Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar popularly known as Babasaheb, was born 14 April 1891 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. He is known for his inspirational work for Dalit community of India. He was an Indian jurist, politician and social reformer. He was Independent India’s first law minister and was among the main architect in designing Constitution of India.

Childhood
Ambedkar was born into a poor low Mahar caste in the town and military cantonment of Mhow in the Central Provinces (now in Madhya Pradesh). He was the son of Ramji Maloji Sakpal, who served in the British Army, and Bhimabai. Being from Mahar Caste, he was treated as untouchables and subjected to socio-economic discrimination.

Ramji Sakpal used his army influence for his children to study at the government school, as they faced resistance owing to their caste. At school, Ambedkar and other untouchable children were segregated and given little attention or assistance by the teachers. They were not allowed to sit inside the class. They were not even allowed to drink water meant for higher caste.

  C.V. Raman Short Biography 
Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman (or C.V. Raman), was born on 7th November 1888 in Thiruvanaikaval, Trichinopoly, present-day Tiruchirapalli. The innovative work of this legend from India, in the field of scattering of light earned him Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930.

Education 
C.V. Raman studied in St. Aloysius Anglo-Indian High School in Vishakhapatnam. He completed his metric education at the age of 11 years and intermediate at the age of 13 years. In 1902, Raman joined Presidency College in Madras to do his further studies. And in 1904, he passed his B.A. (Bachelor of Arts) as gold medalist in Physics. Later, in 1907 he completed his M.A. (Master of Arts) degree with the highest distinctions.

Career
He started his career by working in government sector, but in 1917 he left that work after he got chance to be the first Palit Professor of Physics at the University of Calcutta. At the same time he continued his research at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Calcutta, there he became the Honorary Secretary. This was the time when he did all the innovations related to light in physics. During this period he did Noble Prize winning work. He discovered that, when light traverses a transparent material, some of the deflected light changes in wavelength. This phenomenon is now called Raman scattering and is the result of the Raman Effect. In 1954, he was honored with the highest civilian award in India, the Bharat Ratna.


William Shakespeare Short Biography 

William Shakespeare was born on 26th April 1564, in Stratford. He was widely regarded as English poet, playwright and actor. He still remains the noble writer in the English language and best writer of tragedies. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon". His contributions to literature are in the form of plays, sonnets, short poems, long narrative poems, tragedy verses and much more. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright.

Childhood
William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avong. He was the son of John Shakespeare, an alderman and a successful glover, and Mary Arden.

Education
Most biographers believe that Shakespeare was probably educated at the King's New School, in 1553, a free school; although no attendance records for the period survive. During Elizabeth era, grammar schools varied in quality but had similar school curricula.




Subhash Chandra Bose Short Biography

Subhash Chandra Bose was born on 23rd January, 1897, in Cuttack, Orissa (now Odisha). Popularly known as ‘Netaji’, the most prominent leader, he appeared at the time when most required for Indian freedom struggle. After Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, he is the one who deserves to claim all the credit. Founder of ‘Azad Hind Fauj’ and ‘New India Forward Block Party’ whose work was to plan and make strategies to help themselves get rid of Britishers and see a free India.

Childhood
Subhas Chandra Bose was born to Janaki Nath Bose, a lawyer by profession, and Prabhavati Devi, housewife with pious and religious nature. He had thirteen siblings.

Education
He was admitted to the Protestant European School like his other brothers and sisters. After studying at this school, he moved to Ravenshaw Collegiate School. Subhash Chandra Bose was generally praised by his teachers and it was said that he was a brilliant and outstanding student. He secured second position in his matriculation examination. Later he joined Scottish Church College at the University of Calcutta and attained a degree of Bachelor of Arts in philosophy in 1918. After that, he went to Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge and came back with another degree in 1919. As promised by him to his father that he would appear in Civil Services Examination, he not only appeared but secured fourth rank all over India. But, Bose refused to work as an Administrative officer as he did not want to serve Britishers.
